'Gilmore Girls' View of the Revival from a Fan

Image
The moment we have all been waiting for is here. It’s been nine years since the last episode aired on CW where we were left with a kiss between Lorelai and Luke. So many unanswered questions, were Luke and Lorelai ever getting married, where would Rory's path take her job wise, and the biggest question of all was which boy in Rory's life would she end up with?? When Netflix decided to pick up Gilmore Girls to do a 4 part series, I counted down the days for all of these questions to be finally answered. The day after Thanksgiving, I rushed home from work and got lots of junk food (it’s the only way to watch GG) to binge watch all four 90 minute episodes of "A Year in the Life". A long six hours later, I felt so lost, I actually might have been more lost than I was before. “ It’s a life style, It’s a religion ” Season 1 Episode 14

My Day Off - Labor Day Weekend

Image
I don't usually do this, take a day off. In fact, I don't recall ever doing it this year, aside from my trip to San Diego, California. Nevertheless, I had an opportunity to do so. It would be a four-day weekend, not just three days. There would be plenty of things for me to do on Friday. The weekend was filled with festivals and activities going on in Kansas City. So I thought, why not vlog about it? Although, I'm still getting my bearings when it comes to recording myself on camera, in public.

Market Weekend

Image
A weekend filled with flea market hunting. I start the weekend off by going to a women's expo, where I met the lovely Meg Melchert, owner of Ink'd and Classi. Then Rosie and I went to The Vintage Whites Market for its first year here in Kansas City MO West Bottoms. There were a lot of very cute vendors, one in particular, Market Collective which had the cutest vintage shoes and bags. The next day we went to the River Market/City Market. We went to look at their flea market where we had a booth a few weeks before. Then got some great food and coffee. We ended the day with getting a beautiful bouquet of wild flowers for $10. So check out the links blow and subscribe and give the video a thumbs up!!

It's All About Those Samples

Image
The excitement and the anticipation build up every month to receive my subscription boxes in the mail.  Just think, though, mail was becoming obsolete, a dying commodity - only bills and junk were delivered.  Now we shop online and get packages in the mail.  We pay monthly or yearly subscriptions from companies that put together 4 or more product samples in a "box" and ship them to us.  It doesn't have to be beauty samples.  Pet items, healthy snacks and even fitness things all come through the mail.  Sure, these samples aren't "free", but it's a range of products you might not have necessarily tried or bought on your own for a fraction of the cost.

Movies Under the Stars

Image
It’s June and already hot outside.  I hate the heat but there is something unique about sitting outside under the stars and watching a movie with friends or family.  It’s relaxing, enjoyable and when the sun finally sets the heat can be tolerable – just bring water.  You don’t have to sneak in snacks or pizza or better popcorn like you do at an indoor theater, or freeze to death because they crank up the AC and you end up wanting to wear a parka and boots.

Summer Thrift

Image
Two vintage pots. Left one is from antique store. Right one is from a garage sale. Hope everyone had a productive Monday. I wanted to catch everyone at the beginning of the week so you can start planning out your thrifty weekend. Now with it being the start of summer, everyone has done there spring cleaning and now needs some way of getting rid of all there “junk”. Some will donate to thrift stores but the others will take advantage of the nice weather, get a cup of lemonade put up a few tables in their driveway and sit out of the sun in their garage and try to make a few bucks. Then you have your people moving out of their homes or sadly just passed and open their homes up to company’s like the Lady Bug estate or Bobby’s estate.   Churches are trying to make money for youth trips or renovation projects, and antique shops are pulling out all their best items for first Fridays. Most garage sales start on Wednesday or Thursday, so while you’re driving to work you can start mappin

D.I.Y. Project | Mid-Century Modern Dilapidated to Fresh

Image
You know when you can’t sleep at night so you start shopping on your phone? Well that’s how I ended up with this kitchen table and chairs. I couldn’t get the thought of furniture out of my head, so I began by going on the Offer Up app and looked up lamps, mirrors, couches, and then lastly kitchen tables. There it was, a very ugly and poorly painted, dark brown, mid-century modern table and chairs. Picture is worth a thousand words when it came to the one picture that only gave me a little to work with on how it would fit in my space. It was only $20 for the whole table and chair set, so I jumped on it! We pulled up to the townhome the next day to pick it up and when I walked into pay for it, I saw it in all its disgusting glory. Gladly, I knew this piece had good bones, but I had no idea what an undertaking this would really be.
