Movies Under the Stars

Image
It’s June and already hot outside.  I hate the heat but there is something unique about sitting outside under the stars and watching a movie with friends or family.  It’s relaxing, enjoyable and when the sun finally sets the heat can be tolerable – just bring water.  You don’t have to sneak in snacks or pizza or better popcorn like you do at an indoor theater, or freeze to death because they crank up the AC and you end up wanting to wear a parka and boots.

Summer Thrift

Two vintage pots. Left one is from antique store. Right one is from a garage sale. Hope everyone had a productive Monday. I wanted to catch everyone at the beginning of the week so you can start planning out your thrifty weekend. Now with it being the start of summer, everyone has done there spring cleaning and now needs some way of getting rid of all there “junk”. Some will donate to thrift stores but the others will take advantage of the nice weather, get a cup of lemonade put up a few tables in their driveway and sit out of the sun in their garage and try to make a few bucks. Then you have your people moving out of their homes or sadly just passed and open their homes up to company’s like the Lady Bug estate or Bobby’s estate.   Churches are trying to make money for youth trips or renovation projects, and antique shops are pulling out all their best items for first Fridays. Most garage sales start on Wednesday or Thursday, so while you’re driving to work you can start mappin

D.I.Y. Project | Mid-Century Modern Dilapidated to Fresh

Image
You know when you can’t sleep at night so you start shopping on your phone? Well that’s how I ended up with this kitchen table and chairs. I couldn’t get the thought of furniture out of my head, so I began by going on the Offer Up app and looked up lamps, mirrors, couches, and then lastly kitchen tables. There it was, a very ugly and poorly painted, dark brown, mid-century modern table and chairs. Picture is worth a thousand words when it came to the one picture that only gave me a little to work with on how it would fit in my space. It was only $20 for the whole table and chair set, so I jumped on it! We pulled up to the townhome the next day to pick it up and when I walked into pay for it, I saw it in all its disgusting glory. Gladly, I knew this piece had good bones, but I had no idea what an undertaking this would really be.
