D.I.Y | Faux Marble Table

Finally have side tables in my room! It's been a long time coming but I've finally got around to making the perfect side tables. My bed frame has drawers underneath, so I needed floating tables. I had been wanting mirrored finished tables but at the end I realized that marble would look best. My window frame had a faux marble top but I wanted to make it look more like real marble. So this video takes you through the process of making my beautiful faux marble side tables.

 Supplies You will Need:
1. Thick sheet of plywood measure to your table size.
2. Mounts
3. Faux Laminate
4. Polyurethane
5. Paint tray
6. Paint stick and Roller
7. Tarp
8. Screwdriver
9. Drill
10. Level
11. Stud Finder
12.  Nuts and Bolts
13. Screws

Most of these supplies you can get at you local hard wear store for pretty cheap. When it comes to the wood the price will very on the tip you would like to use for your project. Remember to also measure the area where you want your tables so they can cut the wood to the size you need at the store.

The hard part for me during this project was giving the tables time to cure. I had been wanting them up for two months now and wanted to stop having to almost fall of my bed to look at my phone, but the curing is a big step you don't want to skip if you want it to come out right. Here is a picture of me applying polyurethane to the tables for them to appear more like real marble.

Mounting the tables to the wall was daunting but with my lack of patience by that point I was determined to put them up fast. The left side went up perfectly. No struggling with the measurements, just pre-drilled and presto it was up. Then the right....well lets just say not as easy as the left. The measurements were to low so I moved them up. Pre-drilled to find no stud. So I tried it again moving the measurements over a few inches. Drilled....and no stud again. This point I was upset and sweaty so I went and made the big mistake of drilling the biggest holes in the wall and having the table fall off. Head in my hands feeling defeated I called it a day and had my boyfriend but it up. Of course he got it put up right the first time.

Decorating was what I had been waiting to do since I got started with the tables. I had pulled items from other rooms to see what would work with what I had on hand. Books that I was currently read at that moment, fresh smelling soy candles, my go to starbucks tumbler, beautiful trays, mix metal jewelry, budda, and the list went on. Finally then I had it staged to perfection.

It was a dream come true to have the side tables I had waited months for. To see it all come together and with the decor that was in my room. I could sleep better now knowing that my phone was up by my face and not out of reach on the floor.
