Night of the Arts
Night of the Arts is a show put together once a month to showcase local artists whether it be art, music, fashion or spoken word. This night took place at the Record Bar downtown. Simeon Taylor is one who organizes the Night of the arts and many shows in Kansas City, Missouri. The next show this month is Soul Session at the Blue Room on June 17th.
When I arrived I really liked seeing how many people came out to support local artists. The first musician that I saw that night was Mae C who sang a few of her own songs from her new record Anxious that is on iTunes, which everyone should check out. You can really tell that she puts everything into her music. SweeTwist was next with a very beautiful voice who has done some collaboration with a few other local musicians. Warren Stylez Harvey is an amazing artist. I went upstairs to see some of his art while waiting for the last show of the night. His median is Acrylic and all of his art is very affordable as well.
The last show of the night was a supersize great mash up between Jo Blaq, Lee Langston, and Church Boi. They separately do shows around Kansas City and outside as well, got together at the end to really close the show out right! I really like that shows like Night of the Arts and many more support local artists and let them really show off their talent. So be sure to watch the sneak peek video of Night of the Arts and make sure to see where you can catch the next show or ones like it in the metro area.
