Garden Party Kansas City Fashion Week
It's that time again. Kansas City Fashion Week is back for their 12th season and in full swing with Spring/Summer 2018 shows. We kicked it off with the Garden Party held at Van Noy Mansion. This is where they had the kick off party last year as some of you may know by following us. The beautiful mansion had a flower wall in their entryway for the perfect photo backdrop. The photos were taken by Chuck Mason, a portrait photographer based in the Kansas City Metro area. They had a massive tent set on the lawn by the small pond to the side of the mansion, all wonderfully decorated by Events by Reagan and flowers from Hyvee. The DJ from Icon Event Group, was setting the party vibes.
Clear 10 Vodka and Cooper's Hawk brought the spirits to the party, the grapefruit /OJ mimosas and the Bloody Mary's. To pair with our brunch beverages, Olive Garden had catered appetizers and Nothing Bundt Cakes with their mini bundt cakes. We got to catch up with some of our fellow Kansas City media bloggers not only to chat about our beautiful Garden Party attire but also more about the events and designers at this year's Spring/Summer fashion shows. We had fun in front of the Mirror Me KC photo booth. They had quirky props with a red carpet and you could even write a fun little message on your picture. While walking around mingling we spotted some stunning artwork from R24 Studios, which you can bid on for the first ever Silent Auction put on by Kansas City Fashion Council. They have many more great items you can bid on and all the proceeds go to awarding scholarships to Johnson County Community College students pursuing a degree in fashion. The auction ends Saturday, October 14th at 9 pm. You can go bid now at https://www.32auctions.com/kcfw2017 .
Tobie Marie's collection called "Oliviet" showed at the Kick off Party at Kendra Scott Kansas City Fashion Week Fall/ Winter '17 which was inspired by Jackie Kennedy. This year she showed us two whimsical garments that she just showcased at the Louvre in Paris, France. These garments were inspired by the painting "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" or better known as "The Wave" By Japanese Artist Katsushika Hokusai. The movement of the waves and the movement of the body helped create these designs. She had only four weeks to make her outfits and the main piece, the pleats, took forever to get here from a Chanel garment factory in Paris. For the first look, it took her three days (all-nighters) to complete and the other one, two days. Overall, she would love to show a whole collection some day, but she is concentrating on finishing up school while still getting to show off her amazing talent.

It was a beautiful day for a Garden Party and the right time to show off some season trends. My floral Dress Barn dress was thrifted last minute and gave me some "Pleasantville" vibes, so I paired it with a bold lip and my thrifted Calvin Klein Heels from last season's fashion show. Rosie went all out Target, head to toe outfitted in Target so much we should be sponsored by them, hint hint! The burgundy lace dress really shows how timeless lace can be while pairing it with velvet statement piece booties from the new collection at Target we have fallen in love with, "A New Day". The clutch/cross body purse is also from Target's new collection and really rounded off the look. If you want to, shop these looks below. Be sure to check out the video to get to experience the Garden Party with us. As always, subscribe to catch more of fashion week coming soon.
