Kansas City Fashion Week Spring | Summer 2018 Thursday Show

Thursday's nights Fashion Show made this fall season really feel like spring again. The garments had so many bold colors and powerful messaging. Before the show even started we got to see more from designer Pamela Renee from Wednesday night. Pamela had one of her show stopping pieces on display and we personally loved talking to her about all of the great garments that she's shown. Barbara Bultman designs was also showing not only their jewelry but also some garments from previous collections. I really like that you get to see more of these designers off the runway and hands on, showing all of their items you can buy.  Here at Uneedasee we love supporting local businesses and artists alike. We got to see some of our local blogger friends such as Antonia Martin from St. Glow, Elizabeth from Blubaugh Blueprints, Alex from The Cheerful Closet, and Tiffany from New Dawn Boutique. Some of these ladies went to Friday and Saturday shows as well, so be sure to check out their recaps. Now let the show begin and see what we liked about each designer.

The vibrant colors and bold patterns brought together by two amazing creators, Maret Cissner and Jaime Zuverza. Maret is a Kansas City designer and sculptor; Jaime is a graphic designer from Austin, Texas. Their love for art has helped inspire their ideas to play with 2D, 3D, and 4D designs in the collection.  We really liked this fashion foward idea for summer.

Syke is a brand that believes in making dreams and really making an impact. This collection was to bring awareness to human trafficking. Over 27 million people's freedom is taken away from human trafficking and Syke is trying to do their part to abolish it forever. Syke took a very muted subject to bring it to light and help other. Their vision of changing the world through fashion and design is new and empowering.

Rebekah is one of our local students from Johnson County Community College. Her inspiration for her collection is vintage with unique fabrics and style to help empower the every day woman. These garments are not only fashion forward but also environmentally friendly with re-purposed materials.

Nothing says summer like a swim suit and Naava Swim gives you that convenient summer look with a modern twist.  Justin Houpe is a Kansas City native who came back home after serving 9 years in the Army to focus on pursuing a professional design career. The fact that he designs swimwear for all shapes and sizes is something that I loved about seeing in the Naava Swim collection.

Oak Park Mall was one of the biggest sponsors of Kansas City Fashion Week this year. They showed different looks all week from different stores at Oak Park. The best part is that some of the looks were styled from local bloggers. Thursday nights show had brands such as Coach, Evereve, Kindred and some of their spring inspired collections.

Miranda Hanson is a 17-year-old High School Senior, who is a self-taught designer with the help of YouTube and you all know how much we love YouTube. Miranda has always loved the idea of designing since she was 8 years old and focused more heavily on it once she interned in High School. Showing her collections off at Omaha Fashion Week, The Fashion Gala, Kent Bellows Salon Night, and Kansas City Fashion Week. You would never be able to tell that these beautiful gowns were made by a self taught 17-year-old. With her dreams set on going to college for fashion design and one day having her very own label, I really do believe this brilliant talented teen has a big career ahead of her.

Leo Lyons is a Kansas City native that has moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue his career in fashion design while hoping to get the opportunity to study at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Self-taught sewer through his many travels and getting experience by styling musicians and athletes. This collection was inspired to make clothing for both women and men being able to express one self.

Travis Cal Spring/ Summer Collection was giving me strong 1996 Romeo + Juliet with Leonardo Dicaprio vibes. The second picture above really looks like something the house of Montagues wore and I really do believe that, if they were to recreate this movie, Travis would be the guy to bring his modern designs to play with it. With this collection you can really see all of Travis's amazing talent and eye for design and really knowing the human form. He has been a stylist for over 15 years and that really shows alongside working with well known celebrities and musicians.

Every girl wants to feel beautiful and one of a kind on her wedding day and Kendra J Bridal does just that. With her one of a kind design and styles, she lets the dress tell the story for the bride to be. Kendra's vision is for everyone woman who wears her gowns to feel like their personality really shines through the dress. These whimsical garments flow down the runway with the beautiful touches of lace.

 Alex from The Cheerful Closet

 Antonia Martin from St Glow

It's not every day that I get to feel glamorous and put on a pretty dress with high heels. Believe it or not, these looks are mostly thrifted and put together on a whim. This dress made me feel very powerful and getting to take pictures on a red carpet with friends really boosts the experience. Now that this Spring/ Summer 2018 Fashion Show has come to an end, we really have gotten inspired by all the bold colors and designs used this year. Be sure to watch all of the past runway shows and check out we wear to each event. For all of the days we didn't go to see, be sure to check out what our other blogger ladies recaps were of those nights. As always if you enjoyed the video and blog give it a thumbs up and be sure to subscribe for more content like this. Thank you again to Kansas City Fashion Week for inviting us and hope to see everyone for the Fall/Winter 2018.
